Well what a day! A wonderful day of activities on the water for our visitors and members alike. The way the week started, we’d figured that raincoats and umbrella’s would have been necessary but not a bit of it; sunshine, and lots of it!
If you attended one of our sailing or kayaking sessions today, please leave your comments below and share using your social networks 🙂
We were very lucky to have had the weather today, even if the morning sessions were low on wind but somebody must have ordered some wind online and had it delivered for just after lunch when the glass-like water of the morning gave way to surface ripples indicating the arrival of enough to get the boats going sweetly. We had planned this date last October to coincide with the England Football games, knowing that we might just be able to attract those who may usually watch Premier League to the centre. It goes without saying but we’ll say it anyway; the day was the culmination of a massive planning effort of the DOAC Committee and the club volunteers and could not have taken place without you all. Sailing is one of the best examples of teamwork you will see, and this extends beyond the water to rigging, launching and packing away everything at the end.
It was fabulous to see so many new faces who of course, we would love to see become regulars on our Saturday morning sailing! If you would like to join, you can download the form here then just fill it in and bring it along with you any Saturday. We also have a short guide on what to bring with you if its your first time.
Please follow and share us on Twitter using @debdaleclub and you can also sign up for our newsletter so we can keep you updated with events and club news. They’re only occasional so you won’t be bombarded with junk mail.
Again, it would be great if you could add your comments of the day using the form below. Thanks and hope to see you soon. Photos from the day are shown below for you to download and share.
UPDATE: The video shot by Alan Buckel, including the aerial drone footage is now available below. Many thanks to Alan for doing this 🙂
Thanks again! It was great to see you all.
